Portraits in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District

In what has become an annual tradition, the family journeyed to see more family for the 4th of July weekend in Los Angeles. It always provides ample opportunity for photos. While we were unable to capture the elusive el guapo, we did snatch a few kids for some portraits in the downtown Los Angeles Arts District. We barely scratched the surface of what’s available to see and do down there. But we had pie at the Pie Hole.

So, pie.

It’s fun to walk around a busy place with people dressed for a photo shoot. There are usually some hoots and hollers, especially if you’re walking with a bridal party. This time we had a balloon artist. I guess he calls himself a balloon artist. Balloon artist for hire, as it were.

People had strange looks on their faces, but it was always blown away when they were given a balloon dog or flower. Then we had pie.

I suppose someone handing out balloon animals on the street could be a balloon busker. Balloonist. I have a clown friend. He probably knows the proper term.

And the lady with the blue hair is a hair stylist, naturally. She wasn’t offering hair cuts to passersby, but the blue hair is often as smile inducing as a balloon animal. But not as much as pie.
